hello dears - i am gobsmacked! a particularly delicious english word for what am feeling right now!!
now then.....to explain.....i was tenant of a housing association flat (apartment!) and on leaving, i was due a clean and clear payment of £50.00. this is about $100 and a snidge, i think. to receive this, i had to fulfil certain criteria....
1. give back my keys before a certain time, on the last day.
2. ensure that all alterations had been removed, and made good.
3. the property should be cleaned and cleared.
4. to leave a forwarding address with the housing association, in
case of any problems.
ok. did all that. removed alterations, made good, filled every pinhole, etc. swept, washed, scrubbed and generally ensured the property was SPOTLESS!
i gave back my keys at the correct time, signed off, etc.
i had already submitted my notice to end tenancy in writing four weeks before i ended it, which amazed them all, as usually housing association tenants tended apparently to just toss the keys in and say bye....
i had given them a separate letter with my new address therein, and it was immaculately typed, etc. as was notice of end of tenancy....
so ...... after being in flat for three weeks....no cheque. i visited the offices three times, was assured it would be looked into, etc.
nothing was done.
i then went there in not my usual charming frame of mind (LOL!) but politely, and insisted that this be checked.
can you IMAGINE how HORRIFIED i was to learn that the young man who had come round from the company which checks out these empty properties, had returned a voids form stating that he had had to clean and mop my bedroom floor, that alterations were not fixed, that there was stuff left in cupboards, and that he had had to do OTHER CLEANING WORK!!!!!
i was LIVID. to put it politely......and promptly rang the managing director of the company, and insisted that i wished to come to his offices and speak with him. he was appalled, and fobbed me off with the promise of sending me a copy of the form, etc. and i could see for myself....blah blah..
the copy would be with me on the following monday - we spoke on the friday. it wasnt. and then i found their email addy....HA!!
i emailed them immediately, and made it quite clear that i disputed every single point that this man had made on the form.
TODAY I GOT AN EMAIL STATING THAT I WILL BE GETTING THE PAYMENT!!!!!! i can now pay the guy who moved me, who has been PHENOMENALLY patient!!!!! i was REALLY depending on that money, so this is INCREDIBLE!!!!
