I converted my home to safer home care products and personal care products just before my son was born. Made total sense to me. I'd read about how our homes are invaded with chemicals these days. Many of them have never been tested for human toxicity. Women who stay home are 50% more likely (I think that's the right figure) to get cancer than those women who work outside of the home, and it's mainly due to more exposure to the chemicals in homes, especially in the cleaners.
Many of the companies that produce these better, safer products are accused of instilling fear to increase their customer base (including the company who's products I use). The reality is the chemicals are causing problems. We notice it in our children, and in ourselves. We have more cancer and asthma over the years that these "incredible and helpful" chemicals have been introduced to our lifestyles. We have more instances of cancer, fibromyalgia, MS, ADD and ADHD than we ever had before. There are more auto-immune diseases and issues as well.
I may not have my "facts" totally clear, but I can honestly say that I'd rather be safe than sorry.
