I was reading a book called "Inner Sky" by Steven Forrest. He is an Evolutionary astrologer and his take on some things is a little different.
According to Steven, Pluto's function is to help us realize our destiny. To see that narrow pursuits are frivolous. It also helps us to develop the ability to see truth. It has a shadow side as all planets do and this one can lead to dictator like behavior, power hunger, dogmatism, and even violence.
In his book he asks us to evaluate Pluto's effect on us by asking these questions:
Where can I find enduring significance in my life? Where must I guard against dogmatic, unscrupulous, or tyrannical behavior?
I would like to take it even further and suggest that where Pluto lies in your birth chart is an indication of how you are supposed to use what you have learned to transform life and contribute to the greater consciousness.
For me, my Natal Pluto is located in my 2nd House. This is the house of earned income, physical possessions and how it relates to our self esteem. I suppose one can make it fit into ust abot any situation, but what that tells me is reassuring. That I am on the right path. I want to work with people and their self esteem. How they see the world and themselves and help them see that they are more than what they own.
Pluto is also retrograde in my chart, which according to Steven can make it tougher to speak your personal truths, but it can also give you humility in the use of great power. Very good indeed.
Most of the reading I've done paints a pretty horrid picture of Pluto. Almost as bad as Saturn. To me, Saturn is the taskmaster that wants us to use what we have learned, where Pluto is the one that wants us to go beyond what we think we can to actually use what we have learned. I'm deveoping this thought so it may change down the road.
The next thing I did was look at where Pluto is in my Transit Chart. This tells me how I am to learn what I need to so that I can complete my transformation. Well, Pluto is at the tail end of my 5th house. The house of joy is what i like to call it. In the last few years I have gone through a lot and have been challanged beyond belief at times. In the end, I found my joy, my happy place. Now, Pluto will be moving into my 6th house. The house of health and healing. I believe that I am intended to use what I know in my professional life to help others heal. So, you can see how my Natal Pluto connects to where Pluto is now.
Where is your Pluto and what does it mean to you?
