I need to vent about FEMA

Hi everyone.
Please, afford me this moment to vent. It seems that FEMA is doing its best to not help those who are still in need.
Yes, those who were stranded in New Orleans for those un-Godly 4 days were immediately helped by FEMA and the Red Cross and a number of humanitarian organizations, thank God. I am not refering to those who are in shelters. They are getting the aid they need first, and that is the way it should be, as their needs were the most immediate. This post does not pertain to them.
Many of you know our house was flooded by 7 feet of water and is a complete loss. Within 1 day of the Katrina's landfall, I made a claim with FEMA, both for my mom and myself. Within 4 days, I received a phone call from a woman in Houston who said she is working with FEMA and will be inspecting our home within the next couple of days. I was floored that we would be getting help so quickly.
A few days had passed, then a week, and still no word from this adjustor about our home. After repeated calls to FEMA, who told me they were only taking new applications for aid and no other help or information was being given out, I grew concerned, but understood that there are many who still had to register and needed to do so. I didn't want to tie up the lines. So again, I waited. I found the online access to FEMA, fed in the information needed to access the status to our claim, and was able to read what this inspector had stated on her report. 'NO DEVESTATION COULD BE FOUND. DOES NOT REQUIRE IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE. NO HOUSING ASSISTANCE REQUIRED". Those are bold faced lies! Our home was destroyed, is completely unlivable, had severe roof damage (I saw satelite photos of our home from space).We are homeless and our living on the good graces of others. How can those who are able to offer the most assistance and give the most help able to get away with this? Its unbelievable. After I read that statement I immediately called FEMA, only to be told that they could not help me and I would have to wait for their "help" line to be implimented, which would be up and running in 24 hours. That was over a week ago. Its still not up and now you can't even get to the website. I haven't slept since then. I am angry and outraged. They aren't going to help us. I don't have insurance. I lost all of my belongings, my kids belongings, our furnishings, all of my massage tables, chair, furnishings and supplies. My mom does have insurance, but she was underinsured.FEMA is supposed to offer aid if the insurance didn't cover all the damages. I know at least she will get help from her insurance company, if they ever decide to show up (its been 3 weeks and she hasn't even been assigned an adjustor, thanks a lot Allstate
I went to Slidell this week and saw my home. It was sickening and heartbreaking. Its covered with mud, debris, and the interior is filled with black mud, slime and mold and mildew. All the wood furnishings inside collapsed and is now debris. The mattresses and sofas traveled many feet and are upturned and sitting at odd angles. There are trees down everywhere. The roof to the gazebo on our dock is now sitting in our backyard. My 17 year old's car was completely submurged, filled with mud and moldand it had minows swimming in it still. All of Slidell looks like a bomb went off. I wonder if this woman from FEMA was blind. Or just doing her job to keep FEMA solvent.
So there you have it. Our government giving a helping hand. No one in Slidell has seen FEMA, NO ONE. THEY AREN'T THERE. Yet, they have taken up all the hotel and rental space they could, for inspectors who aren't there (they aren't giving these rooms to evacuees either). We can't get closer then Memphis to start the gutting out process. Its just such a nightmare. We are on our own to deal with this whole mess, well mostly me because I am trying my hardest to keep my mom out of it, she doesn't need any more stress. So please, excuse my sarcasm and negative tone while I am bitter, angry, frustrated and overwhelmed. I can't seem to find the lightworker inside of me right now.
Thank you all for allowing me to tell the truth about what is happening, beyond what CNN and Fox are saying. And a huge thanks for all who have sent prayers, light and assistance. It is deeply, deeply appreciated.
