I've had some recent dreams where I seem to be trying to figure out or steer the dream only to find that I can't.
First example: I dreamed I was on a cruise ship but I realized that it was about to take off and I was scared because I didn't feel ready. So I had to think of an excuse to get off. I decided to tell the cruise ship folks that I didn't have my passport and they had to let me off. I felt relief at getting off. But then later that night I found myself on the cruise ship again. This time I tried to figure out where we were going. I thought that we're on the west coast so we must be headed to Asia. Then the ship left and instead of sailing west to asia it's on railroad tracks going east.
Second example: Last night I dreamed I was trying to cross a road to get to a station or terminal but the road was flooded and I didn't want to get wet. So I looked to my left and saw it was uphill. I figured it had to be drier up there since water flows downhill. I went up there and saw it was flooded too. Even though it didn't make sense, I then walked downhill to see if I could cross the road further downhill. To my surprise, there was a tunnel or underpass so I could cross over to the station/terminal without getting wet.
What comes across to me is that my mind seems to be fighting with itself. It's trying to use reason/logic to figure out what's next, only to be shown that my logical conclusion wasn't right. It makes me wonder whether these dreams are more metaphysical than the ones I usually have.
Have you ever had the experience where your mind seems to be fighting with itself in your dreams?
