Last night I had a dream that I was at my sister's house. In the dream she had a baby and several small kids. She also had a HUGE tiger as a pet. I told her it was terribly dangerous to have a tiger with all those young children. She told me he was as gentle as a kitty. And he was! He followed me all around. I felt I should have been afraid, but was not. He had the sweetest disposition and very gentle and kind eyes -- I just loved him.
Any ideas on what the tiger represents?? Thanks!

OK... The first impression I got was that there is a family legacy that isn't being seen. Like the gift of site. It felt like the Tiger was the symbol for a long family lineage of intuitive power and family heritage. But this power frightened you and felt like it wasn't safe and wasn't part of the family (the feeling it needed to go away). This power is strong and if you embrace it, it will protect you and add power to your family and your life.
I feel that you are being asked to recognize the power in your soul and the power that has carried over through generations. Tap into that.
I also loked up Tigers as animal totems and this is what I got: Tigers are magnificent animals that hold an air of independence and confidence. Solitary animals, males and females come together only during the mating season. The cubs stay with the mother into their second year partly because they are born blind. To compensate for this their inner sight is fully operational. This is symbolic for those with this medicine. Children born into this medicine are natural clairvoyants and prophets.
Mysticism and mythology surround this animal. The Chinese believe that the tigers head often carries the chinese "mark of wang," or king, on its forehead. This is can be seen within the patterns of its fur. One vertical line with three horizontal ones passing through it. Because of this Tiger is one of the 12 signs of Chinese astrology.
Muscular, powerful and agile the tiger can travel great distances in search of food. The distance they cover depends on how much prey there is to eat. The less prey the further their territory extends. Walking on their toes with the back part of the foot raised tigers stalk their prey or lie and wait and then spring unexpectedly on them. Tigers are nocturnal hunters and hold the teachings of focus, patience and surprise.
Tigers are also known for their healing properties. Their body parts are sought for use in traditional Chinese medicine and exotic herbal remedies. Their orange gold coloring symbolizes vitality and regeneration. Those with this medicine heal quickly.
The tigers sight, smell and hearing is excellent. They have round pupils and yellow irises, except for the blue eyes of the white tiger. Due to a retinal adaptation that reflects light back to the retina, the night vision of the tiger is six times better than that of humans. Tiger teaches us how to see into the world of the extraordinary.
Those with this medicine have a strong sensitivity to touch and make excellent body workers. Creating sacred space where others cannot enter, spending time alone in order to gather the energy required to move tirelessly throughout life is advantageous for those with this totem. When tiger appears get ready for adventure, challenge and change. The power, passion and vitality of tiger will activate the same components within yourself.

Kim! Sorry for not getting back to you, but have not been around for the past two days. Thanks so much for so much information. I never would have linked this to my intuitiveness, but having read your thoughts it does make perfect sense. As a bit of background, I was raised very strict Catholic. I had experiences all of my life, which, of course, I kept to myself, as such things were not discussed, especially in our house. After a stillbirth, I had an encounter with a psyschic who asked why I was suppressing my gift. He told me I needed to speak with my mother about the circumstances surrounding my birth. I did -- very hesitantly. She told me that I nearly died when I was born as I was born in the entire water sak, withthe cord wrapped tightly around my neck. The doctor had to rip open the water sak with his nails and give me CPR. She told me I was "born with a veil", and explained the meaning. I asked her why she never told me this before and she said she knew I would figure it out eventually. From that point on (in my mid-20's) "things" really started happening, but hasn't been until my 40's where I have been able to accept and embrace my gifts - whatever they are. I do recall that my dad's mom used to read a regular deck of cards, though I don't know if this who I inherited this from. Something tells me it is from my mom's side, and my mom refuses to acknowledge anything. And I have been told many times (as you told me above) that I do have protection around me.
Thanks so much for looking at this and giving me your insight. It really helps!!
Love ya WR

I got chills when I read this, which is usually a sign that things are "right" with what I hear. I also think it is from your mother's side as well. Thanks for letting me know this. I don't go by traditional meanings when doing dream interp. It is more of an intuitive take on it.
I think that is a very cool dream in deed. So....what are you going to do with it??? LOL
